The Wilberforce University men's basketball team returns home in an attempt to snap a five-game losing streak.
LAST TIME OUT: The Wilberforce University men's basketball team fell to Stillman Saturday, 60-47, in HBCUAC play.
Stillman used a 14-2 run midway through the second half to take control of the game. Wilberforce got as close as five points in the second stanza, but couldn't get any closer.
Junior Daiquan Coach was the lone Bulldog in double figures, tallying 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
ABOUT OAKWOOD: The Ambassadors have lost four of the last five games including a 106-57 loss to West Alabama on November 30. Jordan Hill was the only player in double figures with 12 points, adding three assists and three rebounds.
Senior Jordan Bell, who was held to five points against West Alabama, but is still second in the HBCUAC with 22.6 points per game. It was the only time this season he has scored less than 20 points per game. He also leads the team with 5.6 rebounds.
ABOUT FISK: The Bulldogs are coming off an 83-56 non-conference win over Crowley's Ridge Tuesday. Four players reached double figures led by Nicholas Beaird-Kennard, who dropped 22 points. Kaleb Jefferies (18 pts), Simean Williams II (15 pts), and Mitch Seay (12 pts) also reached double figures.
Three of the four – Beaird-Kennard (13.8), Williams II (13.8), and Jefferies (12.3) - are all averaging double figures. Kailon Benton-Hamilton is the fourth player averaging double figures with 12.3 ppg. Williams is leading the team with 9.2 rebounds, while Mark Cooper is dishing out a team-high 6.6 boards.
EFFICIENCY: Senior Jesse Olverson is second in the HBCUAC, shooting 65.4 percent from the floor. He is currently fourth on the team in scoring with 7.4 points per game.
AGENT ZERO: Junior transfer Daiquan Coach burst onto the season with a 29-point effort in the season-opening victory over Marian. He has scored in double figures in every game this season. Coach leads the team and is sixth in the HBCUAC with 16.7 points per game. He has been the team's leading scorer in five of seven games.
BACKCOURT DUO: The backcourt of Eduardo Diaz and Jamir Hymes are second and third, respectively, in scoring. Diaz scored a season-high 25 points in the win over Bryant and Stratton and is second on the team with 11.4 points, while Hymes has reached double figures in three of the first four games – averaging 8.7 points.
WINDOW CLEANER: Senior Jaiden Wynn, who missed the last five games, leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. Olverson and junior Germainn Marshall are tied for second on the team with 4.7 rebounds and Olverson leads the team with nine blocks.
