WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Wilberforce University volleyball team travels across the street to Division II Central State and fell to the Marauders in straight sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-16) in non-conference action at the Beacon-Lewis Arena.  

Central State raced to an early advantage, 14-3, in the first and cruised to the win. The Bulldogs were within striking distance of CSU midway through the second set, but the Marauders closed the set with 11 of the last 14 points.  

Wilberforce earned its only first lead of the match, leading 7-6 in the third set, but a Marauder spurt allowed them to secure the final set and the match. 

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES 

• For the third straight game, sophomore Jada Griffin led the team in kills. She tied redshirt freshman Mycole Solis with seven kills.  

• Freshman Azra Bute dished out a career-best 13 assists.  

• Griffin had a team-high eight digs, while sophomore Anani Sheppard had six digs.  

• Redshirt junior Jamika Coleman finished with two block assists.

Wilberforce (1-14 overall, 1-2 HBCUAC) returns home 6 p.m. Saturday, hosting Stillman in HBCUAC action.
