Continued Improvements for Bulldogs
YPSILANTI, MICH – The Wilberforce University women's gymnastics team posted season-best scores in two events as the Bulldogs competed in a dual meet against Eastern Michigan.
Junior Jaidyn Bryant led the Bulldogs on the beam with a season-best 9.6 as Wilberforce improved their season-best in the event by 0.770 points with a 45.775. Bryant's mark was the highest of any Wilberforce gymnast on the beam all season.
Two other gymnasts – sophomore Madison Kelly (9.5) and sophomore Saniah Smith (9.5) - also recorded season-best marks on the beam.
Junior Diamond Cook continues to round into her All-American form with a season-best 9.7 as the Bulldogs tallied 45.5 points – one point better than their previous high. Smith (9.575), Kelly (9.375), and freshman Kaleigh Garner (8.4) had season-high marks.
Cook was also the top scoring Wilberforce gymnast on the vault with a season-high 9.425 as the Bulldogs finished with 45.975 points. Only two Bulldogs competed on the bars as Kelly finished with a season-high 9.075 and freshman Mya Caines scored 8.65.
Caines tied her season-best 34.75 in the all-around, scoring 9.2 on the vault, 8.65 on the bars, 8.4 on the beam, and 8.5 on the floor.
After competing in three meets over the past seven days, Wilberforce won't return to competition until February 8 as the Bulldogs travel to Bowling Green State University.
