Season High Scores at Fisk
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Wilberforce University gymnastics team scored a season-high 169.85 points as the Bulldogs competed in the Bulldog Invitational, hosted by Fisk University Sunday.
Greenville claimed the meet with the score of 185.90, followed by Fisk (184.025) and Centenary (182.50).
Freshman Sydney Smith led the Bulldogs in all three disciplines that she performed Sunday. Smith was the top Wilberforce gymnast on the vault (season-high 9.425 points), the bars (9.25) and the beam (8.95).
Wilberforce, with a full complement of student-athletes, tallied season-high marks in all four events – vault (45.7), bars (41.15), beam (41.975), and floor (41.025).
Smith was followed on the vault by freshman Hannah Gouldbourne (9.2), junior Diamond Cook (9.075), sophomore Sadara Mayhorn (9.05), and sophomore Mikayla Clements (8.95). On the bars, Smith was followed by junior Jaidyn Bryant (8.475), sophomore Madison Kelly (8.15), freshman Mya Caines (7.775), and senior Danielle Johnson (7.5).
Freshman Myca Kelly (8.9) was right behind Smith on the beam, and they were followed by Madison Kelly (8.575), Mayhorn (8.0), and Cook (7.55).
Madison Kelly was the top WU gymnast on the floor with the score of 8.975, followed by Cook (8.7), sophomore Saniah Smith (8.5), Gouldbourne (7.55), and Clements (7.3).
Wilberforce returns to action Friday at the Windy City Invitational.
