Six Gymnasts Named Scholar All-Americans
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) recently announced its annual academic awards with six Wilberforce University student-athletes getting bestowed the honor of a WCGA Scholastic All-American.
"This past year has been one of the greatest displays of tenacity and mental strength from our gymnasts - both athletically and academically," said Wilberforce University Head Gymnastics Coach Dr. Morgan Byrd. "These six remarkable student-athletes have shown what true perseverance looks like. They've pushed through challenges, stayed disciplined in the gym, and excelled in the classroom. This All-American recognition is so well-deserved, and I could not be prouder of what they accomplished this past year. I expect nothing but continued greatness from every one of them."
Graduate student Mackenzie Butler (4.0, Biology), junior Danielle Johnson 4.0 Biochemistry), junior Kiora Peart-Williams (3.82, Biology), sophomore Madison Kelly, (3.55, Electrical Engineering), sophomore Saniah Smith (3.55, Biology), and sophomore Jaiden Bryant (4.0, Biology) became the first Wilberforce gymnast to earn Academic All-America status.
To be named WCGA Scholastic All-Americans, student-athletes must own a 3.5 overall GPA or a 3.5 GPA for 2024-25, as submitted and documented by their institutions.
