Juniors Makyla Tucker and Asia Cochran came off the bench to combine for 27 points as the Wilberforce University women's basketball team cruised to the 66-54 HBCUAC win Thursday in the Gaston F. Lewis Arena.
Wilberforce used a 15-3 run in the second half of the third quarter to put distance between itself and their opponents. The Bulldogs defense forced three turnovers and the Tigers were 1-of-6 from the floor and 1-of-4 from the free throw line as the WU took control.
Cochran made her presence felt as she entered the game for the first time with a little more than seven minutes remaining in the third quarter in a tied game. She scored 10 of her 13 points in the third quarter, shooting 4-of-5 from the floor.
Senior Constance Chaplin pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
