PIPPA PASSES, Ky. - The Wilberforce University women's basketball team fell to Alice Lloyd Monday, 87-66, in non-conference action.  

Three players – junior Makaia Smith, sophomore Laniya Early, and junior Asia Cochran – all reached double figures for the Bulldogs. Smith led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Early added 13 points and five boards. Cochran finished with 10 points.  

The Eagles took control of the game with a 14-2 run to end the third quarter. Wilberforce went from a three-point lead to a nine-point deficit over the final three minutes of the quarter. The Bulldogs missed their only shot, was 2-of-4 from the free throw line and turned the ball over during the game-changing three minutes.  

Wilberforce scored 10 of the first 14 points and led by six with 40 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. Alice Lloyd responded with a 9-0 spurt near the end of the second quarter to the four-point lead, and WU trailed by just two at halftime.  

INSIDE THE BOX & NOTES 

• For the second straight game, senior Chenoa Moss led the team in rebounding with seven boards.  

• Wilberforce shot just 2-of-17 (11.8 percent) from the free throw line.  

• The Bulldogs was plus-9 on the glass, outrebounding Alice Lloyd, 52-43.  

• WU finished with 14 assists on 23 made baskets.  

• Wilberforce was outscored 54-35 in the second half.
