The Wilberforce University women's basketball team travels to Dayton, Ohio to face Wright State University in an exhibition contest. The game will count for the Raiders.
LAST TIME OUT: Wilberforce is coming off a 79-50 loss to nationally-ranked Shawnee State on November 5. Junior Makaia Smith came off the bench for her career high of 16 points to lead the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting. She added a team-high six rebounds.
Junior Asia Cochran finished with nine points, five rebounds, and a team-high three assists. Senior Chenoa Moss also pulled down five boards for the Bulldogs to go along with a pair of blocks.
ABOUT WRIGHT STATE: The Raiders opened the season with a pair of road games and is coming off an 85-50 win over Tennessee State University. Three players – Breezie Williams (13.5 ppg), Chloe Chard Peloquin (12.0), and Claire Henson (11.5) - are all averaging double figures for the Raiders.
Chard Peloquin leads the team with 9.0 rebounds, and Williams tops the team with seven assists.
CALIFORNIA LOVE: Junior Makaia Smith, a transfer from Compton, leads the team in rebounding (6.7 rpg) and steals (8), while scoring 10.3 points per game – which is good for third. Her 54.5 percent shooting from the field leads the team and is 11th in the HBCUAC.
EARLY BIRD: Sophomore Laniya Early leads the team with 12.3 points per game and is second with 5.3 rebounds. She is a preseason first-time All-HBCUAC selection. After dropping 26 points in the season opener, Early has scored 11 points in total in the last two.
MOTOWN: Transfer guard Asia Cochran, a sophomore from Detroit, has scored at least nine points in all three games, and is second on the team with 12.0 points per game.
