TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Wilberforce University men's basketball team had its season come to an end Thursday, falling 83-63 to Tougaloo at the 2026 Hope Credit Union Basketball Championships inside the Birthright Alumni Hall on the campus of Stillman University.  

In a game that lacked continuity as 43 fouls were called, leading to 56 free throw attempts, Wilberforce couldn't find its offensive rhythm. Tougaloo attempted nearly asmany free throws (16) in the second half alone as they pulled away than Wilbeforce attempted to(19) in the entire game.  

The Bulldogs seemingly dealt with foul trouble all game long. Senior Eduardo Diaz fouled out with 5:08 remaining, while senior Jesse Olverson, Jr. picked up his fourth foul with 18 minutes remaining in the second half and eventually fouled out with 56 seconds remaining.  

Junior Daiquan Coach led the team with 12 points, while senior Jamir Hymes finished with 12 points and Olverson added 10 points. Junior Preston Steele pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

• It marked the final collegiate games for senior Eduardo Diaz, Jamir Hymes, Jesse Olverson, Jr. and Donavin Baker. 

• Coach scored in double figures in all but one game.  

• Diaz finished his collegiate career with 1,032 points, 471 of those points came in a Wilberforce uniform.  

Wilberforce ends the season 11-13.
