The Wilberforce University men's basketball team travels to Louisville for a non-conference meeting with Simmons College.
LAST TIME OUT: Juniors DaiQuan Coach and Germainn Marshall combined for 35 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Wilberforce University men's basketball team fell to Lourdes University, 74-86, Wednesday in non-conference action inside the Gaston F. Lewis Arena.
Coach led the way with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting with five rebounds and three assists, while Marshall added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
THE SERIES: Wilberforce has won all four meetings between the two teams, sweeping the season series in each of the last two seasons.
ABOUT SIMMONS: The Falcons are coming off an 86-69 loss to Fisk on November 7. Jonathan Johnson registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He added three blocks, two steals, and an assists. Franklin Sampson added 13 points in the Homecoming loss.
EFFICIENCY: Senior Jesse Olverson is leading the HBCUAC, shooting 68.2 percent from the floor. He is one of four Bulldogs scoring at least nine points per game with 9.0 points per game. Over the past three games, Olverson has scored 34 points, while shooting 14-of-20 from the floor. He is also 6-of-6 from the foul line.
AGENT 0: Junior transfer Daiquan Coach burst onto the season with a 29-point effort in the season-opening victory over Marian. He has scored in double figures in every game this season and leads the team with 18.8 points per game after tallying 23 points in Wednesday's loss.
BACKCOURT DUO: The backcourt of Eduardo Diaz and Jamir Hymes are second and third, respectively, in scoring. Diaz scored a season-high 25 points in the win over Bryant and Stratton and is second on the team with 17.0 points, while Hymes has reached double figures in all three games – averaging 11.8 points.
WINDOW CLEANER: Senior Jaiden Wynn, who missed the last two games, leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. Olverson and junior Germainn Marshall are tied for second on the team with 5.0 rebounds and Olverson leads the team with six blocks.
