Alcantara-Diaz Does It Again
NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the second consecutive week, sophomore Christopher Alcantara-Diaz has earned recognition from the HBCUAC, the league announced Monday (April 20, 2026).
The reigning NAIA National Player of the Week continued his torrid stretch at the plate, helping Wilberforce secure its spot in the upcoming HBCUAC Baseball Championships.
"Chris has continued to adjust to the way teams are trying to attack him," said Wilberforce head coach Roosevelt Barnes. "He came up big in several games this week as we continued our push toward .500 and a berth in the HBCUAC Championships."
Alcantara-Diaz delivered another dominant performance, blasting three home runs and driving in nine RBI while posting a staggering .500/.611/1.429 slash line. The Bulldogs went 3-1 on the week, clinching their first .500 season since the program's reinstatement four years ago.
He also added two doubles and a triple, and currently ranks second in the league with 10 home runs.
Wilberforce, the No. 3 seed in the East Division, will open HBCUAC Baseball Championship play Saturday against Wiley.
