School Record Set as Bulldogs Complete Sweep
CINCINNATI, Ohio – An offensive school record fell and another was matched Friday as the Wilberforce University baseball team continued its torrid stretch, completing an HBCUAC series sweep of Oakwood with a 30-13 victory at Gendell Family Field at the Reds Urban Youth Academy.
The 30 runs marked the most scored in an HBCUAC game this season, while the combined 43 runs are the second-highest total in a conference game this year.
Wilberforce broke the game wide open with a school-record 17 runs in the third inning. For the third consecutive game, the Bulldogs ran freely on the basepaths, tying a school record with 14 stolen bases. In all, WU swiped 42 bases across the three-game series.
Every starter recorded at least one hit as Wilberforce racked up 23 hits, including 10 extra-base knocks. The Bulldogs scored in three of their four plate appearances, plating 11 runs in the first inning, 17 in the third, and two more in the fourth. The Green and Gold crossed the plate in 15 of their 16 innings during the series.
Sophomore Christopher Alcantara-Diaz capped an absurd three-game performance, finishing a triple shy of the cycle while going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and seven RBI. In the series, the designated hitter slashed .909/.909/1.727 with three doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI.
He wasn't alone at the plate, as freshman Junior Veras Vasquez continued his dominant weekend, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored, and four RBI. He finished the series slashing .800/.846/1.800 with a double, three home runs, eight runs scored, and 12 RBI.

Bell finished the series 8-for-12 (.667) with five runs scored and two RBI.
On the mound, Kevin Hopkin (2-1) delivered the longest outing of his career in relief, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout.
