XENIA, Ohio – The Wilberforce University baseball team to Alice Lloyd, 10-4, Wednesday in a non-conference nine-inning game in the Browne Family Complex at Athletes in Action.
Senior Keith Smith was the lone player with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Senior Joe Mendy had a double and a pair of RBI for the Bulldogs. Juniors Daunte Ward and Darius Woodson both recorded doubles. Woodson's double in the third inning brought home a run.
The Eagles scored in each of the first three innings to take the 4-1 lead. They added two in the sixth and one more in the seventh.
Sophomore Juan Gomez (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Wilberforce pitching allowed eight hits i the game but issued 12 walks and had five errors committed behind them.
Wilberforce (2-4) opens HBCUAC action with a doubleheader Friday at Voorhees. First pitch for the opener slated for 1 p.m.
